Born in Kyoto, Junkichi Mukai studied at Kansai Bijutsuin. Before World War II, Mukai traveled to Europe and devoted himself to making copies of works in the Louvre. He served in the military during the war, and after
the conflict ended, adopted the motif of minka (Japanese folk dwellings). In this exhibit, we introduce the first half of his career as a painter.
