This year, 2021, marks the 120th anniversary of Mukai Junkichi’s birth (1901-1995). This exhibition introduces Mukai’s life, which spanned a number of historical eras from Meiji to Heisei, and his 80-year career as an artist through a group of works that extends from his earliest years until the end of his practice. A special section also deals with Mukai’s design work, including book bindings and covers, and kimono obi.
